Lotus Foods Organic Brown Jasmine RiceLotus Foods
Product of Cambodia.
The poetically named Jasmine Rice is also referred to as "fragrant rice" due to its floral aroma and flavor. Leaving the germ and bran layer intact intensifies its fragrance and nutty flavor while retaining the highest nutritional value. This nourishing whole grain rice has a lovely supple texture – unlike the chewy and bland taste of some brown rice.
The product is chiefly grown on small family plots by households belonging to the Damrei Romeal Organic Rice Cooperatives in Takeo. Cooperative members are using a set of growing methods, called the System of Rice Intensification (SRI), which enable smallholder farmers to harvest more rice from their traditional varieties using less water, seed, land and no chemicals.

Established in 1995, Lotus Foods is a specialty rice company that has pioneered the introduction of exotic rice handcrafted on small family farms in remote areas of the world such as Bhutan, Bangladesh, and China, into the US market. Each rice varietal is distinguished by its terroir and treasured for its distinctive cooking quality, taste, texture, aroma, color, and nutritional value. Lotus Foods was founded with the intent and vision to support sustainable global agriculture by promoting production of traditional heirloom rice varieties, many of which may otherwise have become extinct, while enabling the small family rice farmer to earn an honorable living. Lotus Foods is the only US-based company with the unique vision and commitment to seek out small family rice farmers in developing countries and provide them a means of economic support through access to a global and sustainable marketplace economy.
Perfect for all cuisines and in dishes that will showcase its delicate fragrance, Brown Jasmine Rice is nutritious and flavorful and can be used steamed plain, in a pilaf, stir-fry, salad or pudding.
